A Simple Process...

Step 2 -- I Work

I get to work. When done, I transfer a digital copy in MP3 format for review; In the case of a mixing or mastering session, this will be a stereo file for your approval or notes for change. In the case of a creative addition or other production service(s), clients will receive tracks and/or MIDI files as applicable to use in their own DAW, local studio, or with me further.

Step 1 -- We Talk

No matter what service interests you, the first thing to do is give me a call, or shoot an email. Well discuss your needs and decide how you prefer to get me the audio tracks, be they raw masters or a mix for mastering, or even a working stereo copy for production ideas and further development.

Step 3 -- You Evaluate

Happy with the job I've done? Excellent! I release the master digital wave file at 48k, 24-bit format and 44.1k, 16-bit format. (A finished CD copy is always provided regardless of other requests, at no cost.)

Like my work, but hear some things which need adjustment? No problem; Back to work I go, and until you're 100 percent happy, I am not finished.

I give you the chance to hear results so you will know what I can bring to your project without any risk attached. This is the best way to meet new people and grow my business, while doing something I truly love and enjoy. With or without clients, I'd be playing with knobs and buttons!

OH MY!

Musician turned Engineer

I have played many styles of music and many instruments over the years, and finally rested on simple rythm guitar and keyboards while becoming primarily a vocalist. However, I got my start in the world of music with piano and brass instruments.

Around college, when the first midi keyboards were hitting the market, I became utterly dazzled by the mass of, well, sounds of a sort, offered before my ivory and copper stained fingertips. Being also a computer geek (band camp AND Computer camp on my resume, thank you very much!), when I saw the first consumer recording products hitting the shelf on our local Guitar Music Center, I was done for life! I'm not so much a musician as I used to be; no instrument could compete with my love of dials.

Seven years later I opened Monastery Recording, but always still continued to work on my own, and assist others with, solo projects and band productions.

Audio Geek turned Studio Owner
Sound excites me; it is that simple! I don't hear music the same way I did so many years ago. Ever since the earliest days with a Tascam 8 track cassette mini-studio, I had to have more! Ironically, while I've always prided myself on great engineering work, realistically my chops have greatly improved and abilities grown over the years since owning my original studio. That isn't just because of experience and trial & error. Sure, those certainly factor in greatly, but there is another reason as well: Technology now provides access to higher quality gear and a lot more of it! When put into the hands of experience, even a veteran like myself learns a great deal! My resume of work speaks for itself, but here are things I consider highights:

  • Owned & operated a full service studio for more than a decade, providing all levels of service, employing personnel and interns, and providig audio engineering education locally.

  • Provided original recorded and mixed music for Federal Government program releases

  • Visited audio duplication facilities nationwide, acting as an audio consultant

  • Recorded, mixed and mastered hundreds of songs, in styles of music ranging from World Music (yes, I've recorded a didgeridoo) to Country, Hip Hop to Gospel, Rock & Alternative to New Age, and even Orchestal music.
